Manchmal macht Schnee richtig viel Spa\u00df!

\nGestern Abend wurde es in Jena nochmal kurz richtig weihnachtlich:<\/p>\n

Aber auch im gemeinen Schneemann steckt ein St\u00fcck Naturwissenschaft. Hier zum Beispiel sieht es so aus, als h\u00e4tte jemand mitten in der Schneemannmassenproduktion die Arbeit niedergelegt:<\/p>\n\"i-751951a971c873d5a95fc56fc93df091-Snow_roller_Illinois.jpg\"<\/form>\n

In Wahrheit handelt es sich allerdings um einen nat\u00fcrlichen Proze\u00df. Wenn Schnee, Temperatur und Wind gerade richtig sind, dann k\u00f6nnen sich solche „Snow Rollers“ von selbst bilden. Der Schnee mu\u00df „klebrig“ sein, also kurz vor dem Schmelzpunkt; der Boden muss vereist sein und der Wnd stark genug, um den Schnee zu bewegen und zu rollen aber nicht so stark, um den Schnee einfach wegzublasen. Wenn es dann noch ein bisschen h\u00fcgelig ist, hilft auch noch die Schwerkraft mit.<\/p>\n

Guido Trombetta<\/i> hat eine beeindruckende Sammlung von Bildern solcher Snow Rollers<\/a> in seinem Blog und auch Phil Plait<\/i> von Bad Astronomy<\/a> hat dar\u00fcber berichtet.<\/p>\n

Ich hab sowas bis jetzt noch nie gesehen – aber ich wohn ja auch immer in so bl\u00f6den Flusst\u00e4lern, wo es immer w\u00e4rmer ist als in der Umgebung und es selten schneit… Ich werde meine Schneekugeln also weiterhin selbst rollen m\u00fcssen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
